Our restaurant  

Food

All our food is prepared in our rustic self designed kitchen. As we take the environment and possible pollutants seriously, all food is stored and served in glass, ceramic and wood – plastic and other synthetic materials are avoided. The food is cooked in stainless steel and earthenware cookware.

Meals are eaten alfresco in our outdoor restaurant, a large terrace shaded by pergola’s.  From the terrace there are absolutely stunning views of the surrounding forested mountains & valleys.

In the eating area you have the choice of sitting around our large scrubbed top kitchen table or if you prefer eastern style, crossed legged on comfy floor cushions.

Breakfast is always eaten in silence to help consolidate your morning yoga practice whereas lunch & dinner are sociable occasions with a backdrop of chill out music from our extensive collection.

We have a second small kitchen for the exclusive use of our guests where you can help yourselves to grain coffee, bancha tea & a wide range of herbal infusions throughout the day.

Vegetarian Cuisine

Our food is lovingly & imaginatively prepared, healthy & well balanced. We provide three organic whole food meals each day based on macrobiotic & ayurvedic principles. We do however include vegetables from the nightshade family, eggs laid by our own happy, free range hens & make moderate use of herbs & spices. Please let us know if your dietary needs exclude any of these.

We do not cook using any dairy, refined grains or sugar as these are usually the main culprits with regard to food intolerances.

As well as the food being tasty & satisfying it also serves to eliminate cravings, bloating, Candida & general fatigue. It balances the blood sugar levels leaving you feeling calm & well balanced  but full of  vitality & zest for life.

We also have a range of tasty cakes & biscuits, all are home baked without the use of sugar. These are available for purchase for a small cost.

The drinking water here is spring water from our water mine – it’s so good you could bottle it & the local people say that it is renowned as being the best in the whole region. We suggest that you bring a water bottle with you & keep it topped up at all times so that you can keep hydrated during the long hot summer days.

If you are a yoga teacher wishing to hire our retreat center we can cater for your specific dietary needs, including strict macrobiotic, raw food, lacto ovo vegetarian, vegan or ayurvedic just let us know in advance.

Our long term aim with regard to food stuffs is total self sufficiency.We take minimizing our carbon footprint extremely seriously & want to know what we are eating is truly organic & gently grown. To date we grow a wide variety of organic vegetables planted & grown according to moon time & permaculture principles, including aubergines, carrots, courgettes, tomatoes, onions, garlic, ginger, lettuce, cauliflower, spinach, broccoli, sweet potatoes, peppers, radishes & several varieties of beans and ensure that the things we buy in are as organic as possible and locally grown.

We are also currently establishing our herb garden & so far have our own fennel, lemon balm, mint, coriander & thyme. In time we hope to have an extensive range of culinary & medicinal herbs.

With regard to fruit we have been truly blessed as our home has a mature established orchard with an abundance of figs, cherries, apples, pears, grapes, nespra, olives, pomegranates, plums & tree strawberries. What is available during your stay depends on the season & what we are able to store. The cherry harvest in June is our particular favourite !

Cookery lessons

Once a week we hold a cookery class & informal talk about nutrition for any guests who would like to learn more about macrobiotic & whole food cookery. A recipe booklet will be provided for you to take home with you.

We also have an open kitchen policy during your stay so that any assistance in the kitchen at any time will be welcomed.
